I do love flowers and I saw some beautiful ones this week at The Atlanta Botanical Gardens. While we were working on the cross tie wall Roger said "I wonder if any of the seeds sprouted". So I went searching for my little sprouts... Yes! First I spotted one, then another. There are little tiny tinder green leaves coming up everywhere! Looks like I will be needing to water these babies until the next expected rain comes along. Now, how to keep the weeds out... did I mention, I already have poison ivy? Yes, I know what it looks like and how to avoid. That stuff just jumps on me when I look at it!

It was a cold wind blowing all weekend for starting that cross tie wall but, somebody needed to get started! We hauled, scraped, dug, placed and leveled the railroad ties for the bottom layer of the wall. And then we had to stop. Change of plans, take a quick ride into Atlanta to pick up a perfect addition to the outdoor church. A seven foot concrete cross. How do you just luck up on someone moving a cross out of their garden? Craigslist sells everything. Now how many people do you think it will take to lift a seven foot cross? FOUR, one small man, two average and one brute of a guy. Thanks guys for the help. Maybe this is the right location. I will need to round up another group of strong men if I want to change the location. Everything seems to be falling into place. I just hope next weekend is a little bit warmer!
I have always liked the idea of sowing seeds. You get to cast something out and see what comes back. Matthew 13:3-9 is the parable of the farmer. Verse 8 "But other seeds were planted on good ground and produced grain. They produced one hundred, sixty, or thirty times as much as was planted. 9) Let the person who has ears listen!" May our seed sown here on this ground produce many good blessings from the Lord.
Mama and Daddy had a painting, I believe it was "The Gleaners" by Francisque Millet http://www.wikiart.org/en/jean-francois-millet/the-gleaners-1857 I always liked that image. Ladies gathering seeds from a field. And Van Gogh had The Sower at Sunset https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:The_Sower_-_painting_by_Van_Gogh.jpg Let us sow out into the world good seeds! 1 Cor 3:6 "I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth" Bring on the wildflowers. May the beauty of our land be a blessing for others. We found the beauty chair today. There were so many to choose from... red ones, orange, maroon, black, roomy, molded and super expensive. We were a bit overwhelmed! I do think we settled on a chair fit for a bride. Now this room is finished.
Finally we had some dry days where we could drive a tractor trailer onto the field. Well there was not one thing easy about this at all! The brakes has locked up, the jack had sunk down in the soft ground under the weight of a full load of wheat straw and rain was expected the next day. Luckily Roger is a small guy where he could fit under those back tires. We go unstuck from one spot only to get stuck in another! I wished for my wrecker man brother in law. This was just up his alley! I prayed for safety while they were working. Thank goodness this has been accomplished! Now on to the next task.
Well we finished and I mean Roger finished the outdoor log planters that will be the entrance to the ceremony site! Today we will be adding the wood preserver so they don't deteriorate so fast. Roger said it is too much work to need to do over! The original photo of the planted log is from a pinterest pinner... indulgy.com Thanks for the inspiration! It is going to be spectacular! Now on to another project...
The old barn wood I was able to salvage from the chicken houses is a perfect table top. I found this metal table base at a resale shop. Lots of broken dishes in many colors from some of my other mosaic projects. Several hours later with much glue to hold the pieces together. Dry over night and then onto grout. I love it! So will everyone else. With all the old wood trim and tin ceiling, this grooms area is hard to beat!
Address numbers up Working on the signage today on this glorious day in February. Suits the spot just Perfectly!
It was a stressful week but, the county commissioners voted in our favor- a unanimous vote to approve our south Hall county agri-business. We are allowed to host farm weddings, bridal showers, baby showers, receptions, rehearsal dinners, family gatherings, birthday parties and reunions! We do have a noise regulation... all amplified music must end at 10:30 and guests depart by 12 on Fridays and Saturdays.
As a graphic designer of past... one can only imaging the skill level..NOT! As a designer you are only as good as the amount of screen time and familiarity with programs. Every program is a little different. Today was spent designing websites. Upgrading my existing artist site www.clittleartist.com and new site for the farmhouse. I know how to make things look good.
However, the tag lines of you can have a website in an hour...HA! Now since I have the basics I can get back to what is important... got to change out some barn boards on a coffee table for the grooms area. I will need to find the right boards, run them through the planer, find those mosaic tiles --- now let's get to work. Oh, and feed those cows. Photo to come later. |
